Thewmika bags ten wickets as Thurstan beat Maris Stella

 Spinner Vihas Thewmika completed a match bag of ten wickets including a six wicket haul in the second essay as Thurstan rattled Maris Stella for 89 runs to cruise to a nine wickets victory in the Under 19 traditional cricket encounter at Thurstan ground on Friday. At Campbell Place, Nalanda restricted Dharmaraja to 97 runs as Minod Caldera (18-9-32-6) produced a six wicket haul.

The day’s most shocking collapse was at Bambalapitiya as Trinity bowled out St. Peter’s for 67 runs. The visitors were comfortably placed at 285 for six wickets at stumps on day one.   The batting honours of the day were shared by Mahith Perera of S. Thomas’ and Hiran Jayasundara  of St. Joseph’s as both topped 150 runs in their respective matches.
