Thehan, Chathurya bag open men’s doubles title  

106th Colombo Championship 

Thehan Wijemanne and Chathurya Nilaweera won their third title of the 106th Colombo Championship 2021as they registered a convincing victory in the men’s open doubles final at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Tuesday.

Wijemanne and Nilaweera beat Kaveesha Rathnayake and Rostom Ali 6-2, 6-2 yesterday to make it two consecutive doubles title victories. They were the winners of the Under 18 boys’ doubles title as well. Nilaweera and Wijemanne were also the winners of the Under 18 boys’ singles title and the men’s open singles title respectively.

Meanwhile, in the women’s doubles final, Savini Jayasuriya and Janali Manamperi overcame a first set defeat to beat Anjalika Kurera and Oneli Perera 1-6, 6-2, 10-8.
