A re-union concert by the Merry An Singers

‘The Way We Were’, a re-union concert by Merry Anne Singers was held at the Lionel Wendt Theatre recently Mary Anne David marked 47 years of teaching vocal music, her students past and present prepared a tribute show to celebrate her immense contribution to the Sri Lankan music scene.

Mary Anne’s versatality as a teacher of vocal music is well known. She is a personality famous and in demand in numerous genres of singing: be it opera, Jazz, Broadway contemporary and even oriental music.

The concert which was held for three days had a packed audience. She has enthralled audience both locally and internationally. The packed audience at the Lionel Wendt was index to and proof to Mary Anne David; her unparalleled skills in music and singing is yet to be surpassed.

“The Way We Were”, this reunion concert, as everyone would unarguably agree, is her talent and charisma that allowed her to captivate audience across different music genres in her own inimitable style.
