The Life Sentence
By Lynn Ockersz
Prison breaks make it to the front page,
But for the people of the Nodding Land,
There’s this different take:
Strong iron bars don’t always make a prison cage,
Nor are cavernous cells places of slow death,
But a guilty conscience is all of these;
And a torture chamber it will turn out to be,
For wrong-doers allowed to roam free.
