The last farewell…
Gypsies Sunil Perera is no more and everyone seems shocked that this loveable personality had to leave us…quite unexpectedly.
He succumbed to the deadly Covid virus last Monday morning (06) after spending several days in hospital.
He returned home, after his hospitalisation but, a few days later, experienced some discomfort, and had to be rushed to hospital…for the second time, and never recovered.
The legendary singer/composer/entertainer would have been celebrating his 69th birthday today (Sept. 14)
The final rites were held at the Borella Crematorium, at 6.00 pm, on Monday (06).
Despite the Quarantine Curfew, now in force, quite a few of his fans, including well-known personalities, and dignitaries, turned up to witness the last farewell.
Only the singer’s family members were permitted to enter the premises.
Yes, we all miss him and I’m quite certain Sunil Perera will be remembered in a very special way, by way of tribute songs, etc.
A Sri Lanka, in Australia, Imnaz Yusoof, who works for Virgin Airlines, has titled his contribution as ‘Rest in Peace LEGEND.’
