The Double Dread

The idyllic isle,
Known for its complacent ways,
Is seized once again by dread,
And it is not only the Second Wave,
Of the silent killer of COVID-19 fame,
That needs to be fought away,
But also the contagion of untruth,
Coming off lips from on high,
That makes short work of sacred things,
And points to a moral crisis grave,
That needs fixing come what may.
