The De Lanerolle Brothers powered by Dialog open with sold out show
The De Lanerolle Brothers, Colombo’s most beloved musical duo, returned with a grand concert on the 24th of October 2022, at the Hilton Colombo. Performing to a sold-out house, the much-awaited concert was booked to the brim long before the show date was announced. This was the Brothers’ first major concert in over 2 years, as a result of the pandemic that crippled the entertainment industry. The show was accompanied by some exciting cocktails and mouth-watering canapes, provided by Hilton Colombo, for guests to enjoy. The event will also be telecasted on Dialog Television’s Channel One and the Dialog ViU App on the 31st December 2022 from 9.00 PM onwards for the benefit of those who could not be there.
Sponsored by Dialog Axiata PLC, the De Lanerolle show on the 24th of October opened with slower numbers such as Elvis Presley’s, “Can’t Help Falling in Love with You”, and Anne Murray’s, “Could I Have This Dance”. Rohan and Ishan De Lanerolle then proceeded to treat audiences to a wide and varied selection of classics and hits, including a tribute to the late four time Grammy award winner Olivia Newton-John, a legend whose show the Brothers opened, when she performed in Sri Lanka in 2012. Singing and entertaining the audience for over 2 hours, the De Lanerolle Brothers were a treat to watch, getting the crowd going with hit favourites like “Spanish Eyes” and “Amarillo”. Special performances were also presented alongside other members of the De Lanerolle Family, including Khalia and Yohan, which included solos and duets.
The show ended on quite the high-note, with the crowd singing along to numbers like Freddie Mercury, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and The Drifters’, “Save the Last Dance For Me”, while the crowd repeatedly calling for encores. The Live Band and Ensemble, with Musical Direction by Shobi Perera, kept the rhythm of the night alive, to deliver an all-in-all fantastic and exhilarating night of the De Lanerolle Brothers Live in Concert.
Dialog has been the proud sponsor of The De Lanerolle Brothers concerts for the past 14 years, sponsoring every concert of theirs and with the backing of Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, audiences have been delighted year-on-year with spellbinding performances manifesting from past concerts such as “Keeping It Real” and “A Celebration of Music”.
