The Dawn Warning

This is not a rude awakening,

For you O citizens of the Isle,

For, you’ve been here before,

These long seventy five years,

Staring down the Barrel of a Gun,

Held by hands with bulls-eye aim,

Lest you dismiss the powers’ diktats,

And their controls over your life,

But there’s more than meets the eye,

In the metropolis this sad dawn,

For, you have now lost everything,

That’s supposed to define yourself,

And give substance to citizenship….

Even what’s remaining of your Voice.
