Thalatha lacks dignity of labour

Thalatha Athukorala’s feudal mindset is amply demonstrated from the paragraph I quote from today’s The Island (10/09) from a statement made in Parliament.

“MP Premalal Jayasekera stated in this House that I had once said I would become a tea plucker if our government could not have him sentenced to death. That is not true. I never wanted to be a tea plucker and I will never go down to that level”.

Isn’t she demonstrating a depraved attitude in ridiculing tea pluckers? Tea pluckers by their sweat earn foreign exchange for Sri Lanka. I wonder whether she has earned any foreign exchange for Sri Lanka!
