Ten more poaching Indian fishers held

The Navy on Sunday evening (14) took into custody an Indian trawler with 10 fishers poaching in Sri Lankan waters north of Point Pedro, Jaffna.

The Navy headquarters said that the suspects and the trawler had been brought to the Kankesanthurai harbour and handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector to institute legal action.

The detection off Point Pedro was made within 24 hours of the Navy apprehending three Indian trawlers, along with 12 Indian fishers, off the Kovilan Lighthouse at Karainagar, Jaffna.
