Talks between striking health sector workers and Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella failed to bring the strike to an end. Therefore, the  18 health sector trade unions would continue their strike until the government addressed their grievances.

Speaking to the media after the discussion Minister Rambukwella said they agreed to some of the union’s demands. The Minister pointed out that, relatively, health workers were better paid than other sectors. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Health Management Assistant Officers Union, Namal Jayasinghe said that they would not go ahead with their proposed strike today after the discussions with the Minister.
