Suspect dies in exchange of fire with police

A suspect wanted in connection with several shooting incidents in the Kandana area was shot dead during an exchange of fire with the police at Sapugaskanda on Sunday night (15).

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that a team of police officers from the Kandana Police, had arrived at the location to arrest the suspect.

The suspect opened fire, prompting the police to react.

The 49-year-old suspect had died during the shootout, the police spokesman said.

Sapugaskanda Police are conducting further investigations.
