Suspect caught with 1.6 kilos of ‘ice’

One person has been arrested by police with more than a kilo of ‘ice’ narcotic, also known as crystal methamphetamine at Wanawasala in the Peliyagoda police area.

Police said the detection was made during an operation carried out by the Western Province (North) Crimes Division on Tuesday evening (15).

During the raid, a suspect was arrested while transporting 1.6 kilos of ‘ice’ on a motorcycle.

The arrested suspect has been identified as a 23-year-old resident of Dippitigoda in Kelaniya.

He is to be produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court while Western Province (North) Crimes Division are conducting further investigations.
