Suspect arrested for killing five in Jaffna

Police, on Saturday, arrested a person for murdering five elderly persons in Delft, Jaffna.The bodies of the victims, three females and two males, were found in a house at Akuruthurei, Delft, on Saturday afternoon.

Police believe that the murders took place in the early hours of Saturday morning or Friday night. The suspect recently returned to Jaffna after being deported from Germany.

He had become depressed due to his deportation. It has been revealed that he used to visit the victims often.One woman was seriously injured.The survivor is an elderly woman close to 100 years and she is currently being treated at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.All those killed were citizens of the UK and were aged over 75.
