Supreme Court re-fixes contempt case trial against Ranjan Ramanayake

The Supreme Court yesterday (21) re-fixed for hearing on Nov 6, the contempt of Court trial against Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) lawmaker Ranjan Ramanayake.

 The Attorney General has filed contempt of Court charges against MP Ramanayake for having caused an affront to the dignity of the judiciary on August 17, 2017 in Colombo.

President’s Counsel M.A. Sumanthiran appeared for Ramanayake.

Senior Additional Solicitor General, Sarath Jayamanna, PC appeared for the Attorney General, who is an amicus curiae.

The bench comprised Justice Sisira de Abrew, Justice Vijith Malalgoda and Justice Preethi Padman Soorasena.
