‘Superlatives’ for mediocre performances!
Obviously, with the pandemic, and lockdown, local musicians have all time in the world to work on videos (or unearth old videos) and have them on social media. Not a bad idea, indeed!
While some of what is seen, and heard, do justice to the musicians concerned, there are also a few that do not measure up to the required standard.
Unfortunately, whether they are good or bad, superlatives – like awesome, beautiful, fabulous, etc. – are used, in the comments section, to describe even a mediocre performance! And, that is certainly doing the artiste, concerned, a disservice.
Such artistes would never realize that they are not doing it quite right and would make no effort to rectify their shortcomings.
A leading musician had this to say:
“Some of our singers must take a second look, and listen, again, before they post their videos on the net!
“Most can’t sing, or pitch, but they keep on posting.
“There are others, who seem to know nothing about music, writing comments, saying fabulous, great, and so on, just like the blind leading the blind.
“It’s time these people stopped joking.”
