Sunday Island staffer wins award

The Sunday Island Features Editor and veteran journalist Zanita Careem received an award for her contribution to the media and seniority. The Ahasa Media Network organised the awards ceremony at the Mahaweli Centre, Colombo on Tuesday January 31. It was held under the patronage of CEO of the Ahasa Media Priyanga Bandaranaike.

The Awards were presented in various fields such as Cultural, Arts, Media, Drama and Film. Mrs. Careem receiving her award from Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayaka. Among those present were Deputy Inspector General of Police Bimshani Jasin Arachchi, Ahasa Media Network Advisor Hassim Omar and Royal College Principal R.M.M. Rathnayake and MP Sarath Weerasekera. Anandi Balasingham, formerly of Thinakran also received an award.
