Sudarshani still grieving calls for eradication of terrorism

At Jeyaraj commemoration:

State Minister Dr. Mrs. Sudarshani Fernandopulle has alleged that those who had been pursuing accountability issues for the benefit of the LTTE rump and the Tamil Diaspora were never bothered about the sufferings of the families of victims.

 Dr. Fernandopulle said so at a commemorative event held at the statue of her husband Jeyaraj at Weliweriya, where he was assassinated by the LTTE eight years ago.

 She said there were many families in similar situations. Sri Lanka brought the war to a successful conclusion in May 2009.

 In an obvious reference to the continuing threat posed by the National Thowheed Jamaat (NTJ), blamed for the 2019 Easter Sunday carnage, Dr. Fernandopulle urged political party leaders to take a common stand against terrorism, whatever form it took. She called for the eradication of terrorism.

 Dr. Fernandopulle alleged that so- called human rights defenders conveniently turned a blind eye to those who suffered due to terrorism.  (SF)
