Subcommittee on economic revival approved

The Cabinet had approved the establishment of a Cabinet subcommittee on economic revival, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana said on Tuesday.Addressing the media in Colombo, Dr. Pathirana said that the subcommittee would be empowered to take swift decisions to revive the country’s economy.

A number of agencies are working on various aspects of economic recovery and the subcommittee can oversee them and provide strategic guidance, the Minister said.

“The President will chair the subcommittee and five other ministers including the Prime Minister will be members of the subcommittee.Minister Pathirana said that the government would also review the public recruitment process and take steps to fill vacancies.
