Stranded 350 Lankan garment workers in Jordan want to be brought back home

Around 350 Sri Lankans who have not been paid for over a year by their employer are stranded in Jordan, it is alleged.

They were working at a garment factory in Sahab, a municipality in Jordan located southeast of the capital Amman.

They had been working there for six years, but the company closed down recently.

The management has not paid them. Their visas have expired as well.

They are living in company dormitories and are finding it difficult even to access food.

The electricity for the dormitories has now been disconnected. Reaching out to Sri Lankan media, they claim that the Sri Lankan embassy has not provided any assistance and have urged the government to bring them home.
