STF to catch man trying to sell 11 ‘elephant pearls’ and silver receptacle at Batticaloa

The STF nabbed a person who was trying to sell eleven ‘elephant pearls’ (gaja muthu) and a silver receptacle at Batticaloa on Monday, police said yesterday.
The suspect was taken into custody during a raid conducted on a tip-off received by the STF Camp in Kalmunai. The STF immediately raided the suspect’s house at Puliyanthivu Gandhi Children’s Park in Batticaloa.
The suspect is a 30-year-old resident of Chenkaladi.
The suspect and the contraband were handed over to the Batticaloa Police for further investigations.
