STF raid yields counterfeit notes

The STF nabbed a person with a stock of counterfeit currency notes and a sharp weapon at Devi Puram in Pudukuduiruppu.The STF took into custody 684 notes of Rs. 5,000 denomination, a computer and a colour printer used for printing money.

Acting on tip-off, the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by the officers of the STF Mullaitivu Camp.

Police said that there were 570 currency notes bearing the number R/ 253673053 and 114 currency notes bearing the number R/ 247444625 are among the fake currency notes.The 40-year-old suspect, a resident of Trincomalee would to be produced before the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court, police said.
