State Minister suspended from Parliament for two weeks

Water Supply State Minister Sanath Nishantha had been suspended from Parliament for two weeks on disciplinary grounds, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced yesterday.

MP Nishantha snatched some documents from Opposition and SJB leader Sajith Premadasa during a protest against the latter’s demand that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and others the Supreme Court had held responsible for the current economic crisis be deprived of their privileges. (SI)
