Stars doing it differently…
this Saturday, August 29th
ARISE SRI LANKA is not just another fundraiser – the kind that we see popping up regularly in the showbiz scene here. It’s unique, in many ways, because it’s a telethon, and Sri Lankans will be experiencing, for the very first time, a fundraiser, with a difference.
What’s more, those abroad, will also be able to catch the live streaming action, as ARISE SRI LANKA will be aired to most parts of the world, via Social Media and YouTube, as it unfolds at Nelum Pokuna, this Saturday, August 29th, from 6.00 pm onwards.
At the press conference, held last Tuesday, at the Galadari Hotel, quite a few artistes, who will be doing the needful, on the 29th evening, were present.
Some even entertained the gathering, with their vocals; Sohan led the way, with April Schokman, Marlon and Dr. Nilanka also exercising their vocal cords.
The show will bring into the spotlight some of the big names in the local showbiz scene.
Billed to appear are Damien, Benjy, Donald, Dr. Nilanka, Kevin, Mahinda Kumar, Ranil Amirthiah, Noeline, Sahan, Sherrideen, Trevin, Rukshan, Melantha, Umara, Corrine, Shiyam, Shamistar, Jackie, Ishini, Marlon, Sherriden, Rajitha, Mariazelle, Bonnie, Treshelle and Sohan.
The X-Periments, along with Mirage, and Aquarius, will back the artistes.
Noeline and Sohan will handle the evening’s proceedings.
According to Richard, one of the main purposes of bringing all this talent together is also to complement their performances, with images of how our frontline workers combated the pandemic, and also to encourage foreign travellers to visit our country, when our points of entry open up.
Among the many highlights, of this telethon, will be a song composed, very specially for this event, by Noeline and Melantha.
“These efforts will come together in solidarity to fulfill one of the main objectives of this event which is to raise funds for the frontline health workers,” said Richard.
“This will be facilitated during the concert where any person, who wishes to contribute, can do so.”
Although original plans were to restrict the audience, at Nelun Pokuna, to only invitees, Richard says he has decided to open it to the public, as well, due to the many inquiries that he has received.
“I will increase the intake, if clearance is obtained.”
However, at this point in time, only 100 premium tickets, priced at Rs. 7500 each (with refreshments), will be made available, on a first-come-first-served basis. You need to call 0764445555.
