St. Peter’s did well to defend a low score as they beat Devapathiraja by 10 runs after posting 122 runs in the quarter-finals of the Under 19 Division I Tier ‘B’ tournament at Wijerama Mawatha on Tuesday.

The match was played as a 27-overs-a side affair after it got off to a delayed start due to wet ground conditions.

Rusanda Gamage and Kavika Jayasundara were the only batsmen to top 20 runs as the defending champions collapsed to leave Devapathiraja with a target of 123 runs to chase.

However, the team from Bambalapitiya managed to pull off an exciting ten runs win as Shennon Rodrigo and Nimuthu Gunawardena shared five wickets between them to contain Devapathiraja to 112 runs.

Scores:

St. Peter’s

122 for 9 in 27 overs (Rusanda Gamage 24, Kavika Jayasundara 27; Irushka Thimira 3/14, Chaminda Sandaruwan 2/24)

Devapathiraja
