St. Joseph’s Nugegoda back to winning ways in basketball

St. Joseph’s Girls’ School, Nugegoda has been a strong force in schools basketball. The school has not only won a record number of championships across all age groups, they have also produced most number of national players for over three decades now.
St. Joseph’s girls showcased their supremacy in the sport winning the National Schools Games beating Our Lady of Victories Convent, Moratuwa in the finals worked off at Hindu College, Jaffna.
The final score was 35-31. Melani Perera top scored with 24 points for St. Joseph’s while Dewni Senaya chipped in with six points. Aleena Hayic with 13 points and M. Mitchell with six points were the top scorers for the losing finalists.
While St. Joseph’s and Our Lady of Victories Convent qualified for the finals, Mahamaya College, Kandy and Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya were the losing semi-finalists.
