SSP Jaliya posted as personal assistant to SDIG Northern Province

Former Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent Jaliya Senaratne has been posted as the personal assistant to the SDIG in charge of the Northern Province. He was transferred over disciplinary reasons, the police said.

SSP Senaratne is among 13 senior policemen who have been transferred.

There eight DIGs, an SSP, an SP and an ASP.

Senaratne was replaced by DIG Ajith Rohana, who also heads the Police Legal, Discipline and Conduct Range.

The DIG in charge of the Galle District K. N. J. Wedasinghe has been appointed the Acting DIG of the North Division of the Western Province.

Senaratne came under fire recently for allegedly making contradictory statements regarding Riyaj Bathiudeen, brother of former minister Rishard Bathiudeen, who was recently released from custody. Bathiudeen was arrested by the CID on April 14, 2020 on charges of aiding and abetting terrorists who carried out the Easter Sunday attacks.
