SriLankan suspends flights to Moscow

Sri Lanka’s national carrier, SriLankan Airlines, on Monday (28) announced that they would suspend operations between Sri Lanka and Moscow, with effect from the same day.

The airline said the decision was taken due to operational restrictions, which are outside of the airline’s control.

SriLankan said those restrictions were in the form of international financial and aircraft insurance limits which had been imposed on Russia due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

Accordingly, SriLankan Airlines would cease operations to Moscow until further notice.

The airline has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by this decision.

SriLankan said it would monitor the situation in Russia, and hoped to restart operations once conditions improve.

Earlier, SriLankan maintained two weekly flights between Colombo and Moscow.
