Sri Pada season begins

Amidst calls by the health authorities for devotees to avoid this year’s Sri Pada pilgrimage due to the pandemic, the sacred objects, including the statue of God Saman, and the relics were taken in procession from Galpottawala Raja Maha Viharaya, signalling the commencement of the annual Sri Pada season. The ceremony was attended by Minister for Public Security Sarath Weerasekera and Governors Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Lalith U. Gamage of Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces respectively.

The Sri Pada season ends on the Weask Full Moon day 2021.
