Sri Lankan cuisine showcased at ‘Lulu Food Festival’, Bahrain
Lulu Hypermarket Bahrain, the biggest regional hypermarket chain had organized the “Lulu Food Festival” under the theme “Food is Good” over the weekends of August to September 2020. Cuisines of a dozen countries had been showcased at the food festival, being the first ever promotional event that involved many countries.
Sri Lanka’s rich culinary heritage was also honoured in a special “Sri Lankan Food Week” titled “Taste of Sri Lanka” from 10th – 12th September at Lulu Hypermarket in Dana Mall & Juffair Mall respectively. The event organized in collaboration with the embassy of Sri Lanka had a daily live cooking demonstration by Sri Lankan Senior Sous Chef Samitha Pathmakumara of Gulf Hotel. Several signature dishes showcasing authentic Sri Lankan cuisine’s tropical influences were demonstrated live, allowing visitors to experience the unique taste of Sri Lankan culinary art.
During “Taste of Sri Lanka” a wide spectrum of Sri Lankan products was also sold at very attractive prices at all Lulu Hypermarkets in Bahrain and customers had the chance to discover the rich food of Sri Lanka through tasting and sampling. The festival will end September 17th – 19th with chefs serving up oriental delicacies from China, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.
The embassy facilitated Sri Lanka’s participation in “Lulu Food Week” as a way forward in reviving trade & tourism promotions in the post COVID-19 situation.
