Sri Lankan companies are currently facing the major challenge of finding and recruiting financial professionals. This has become a nightmare for certain entities because such qualified personnel are leaving the country, Aruna Perera, president, Chartered Financial Analysts Association of Sri Lanka (CFA) said.

“Today the cream of the financial professionals has already left the country due to the absence of law and order, the breakdown in the educational system for their children and issues in the medical field. All such issues have resulted in young professionals migrating to other countries, Perera, told The Island Financial Review.

Perera added: ‘The recent tax increases, inflation, the dollar depreciation and such like factors have affected the disposable income of especially semiprofessionals, compelling them to leave the country. Therefore, to manage the exodus issue, CFA -Sri Lanka will invite all universities to produce research papers, to be submitted to CFA -Sri Lanka, on these challenges facing the country and on solutions to them. CFA – Sri Lanka will invite all and other research entities to engage in this competitive endeavor as well. The best such research will be enabled to compete in the Asia-Pacific sub-regional competition, pertaining to this field.

‘Further, in late November we will be organizing a conference for Human Resource Heads to discuss current HR issues and to find suitable solutions to them.

‘Apart from this, to improve the objectives of research we will also be organizing an event for all stock brokers in stock brokering companies in late November.’
