Sri Lankan and British MPs to play friendly cricket match

Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom have mutually agreed to play a friendly cricket match between members of the two Parliaments as it will be a fine opportunity to celebrate shared love for the game.

Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to London, Ms. Saroja Sirisena, who called on the Speaker of the House of Commons recently, had suggested an exchange of visits between legislatures of the two countries.

“They both agreed that a friendly cricket match between the members of the two Parliaments would reflect their shared love for game”, the High Commission said.

The importance of strengthening bilateral relationships between the two countries, especially in trade, investment, tourism people to people contacts, education and cooperation of the legislatures of the two countries were also discussed, it said.

The Sri Lankan envoy was accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Samantha Pathirana.
