Sri Lanka to participate in Global Maritime India Summit 2023

Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation, said that Sri Lanka will participate in the 2023 Global Maritime Summit, which will be held in Mumbai, India, from October 17 to 19.

The Minister emphasized this during a conference organized by the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka to inform the Sri Lankan business community and stakeholders engaged in the naval and maritime sector about the “2023 Global Maritime Summit” at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo on 23rd September.

The minister said that the 2023 Global Maritime Summit, which will be held in Mumbai, India next October, is the best opportunity to resolve the issues affecting Sri Lanka in the global maritime and maritime sector. The Sri Lankan Government also thanked the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the Government of India as the Minister-in-Charge for this opportunity.

The minister said that as a country located in the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka is showing successful progress in the field of merchant shipping and that special security measures should be implemented for the ships that use the Indian Ocean region, for which Sri Lanka will take steps to submit a series of proposals at the conference.Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Bagle also expressed his views at the event and the Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of the Government of India T.K. Ramachandran and others spoke about the “2023 Global Maritime Summit” through Zoom technology.
