Sri Lanka through to quarter-finals with back to back wins
Sri Lanka recorded their second consecutive win at the ongoing ITF World Junior Team Competition Asia Oceania Pre-Qualifying Event to secure a quarter-final place at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Wednesday.
They beat Nepal 3-0 to remain unbeaten in the competition.
While Aahil Kaleel and Methika Wickramasinghe scored the singles wins, the former was joined by Pasidu Rukunayake to record the victory in the doubles.
Results:
1st Singles match:
Aahil Kaleel beat Boris Adhikari (Nepal) 6-2, 6-2.
2nd Singles match:
Methika Wickramasinghe beat Darsheel Shrestha (Nepal) 6-2 6-1
Doubles:
Aahil Kaleel and Pasidu Rukunayake beat Brijesh Aryal and Darsheel Shrestha (of Nepal)
The ITF event which started on Monday is taken part by 14 boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams. The countries taking part in the tournament are Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macau, Pacific Oceania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkmenistan, Yemen, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The event is set to conclude on February 18.
