Sri Lanka-Thailand Society Silver Jubilee celebrations
The Sri Lanka -Thailand Society (SLTS) held its Silver Jubilee celebrations, recently, at the Galadari Hotel. The Executive Committee celebrated the special occasion, by honouring the founder Exco Members; they were presented with a Plaque, each, as a Memento in remembrance of their services.
The evening’s programme included colourful dancing and cultural items by a Thai Cultural Troupe.The Ambassador of Thailand, Poj Harnpol, was the Chief Guest, along with all staff members of the Royal Thai Embassy, Colombo.
Ambassador Poj Harnpol expressed gratitude for the success of the activities, during the 25 years, and endeavours of the Society to reinforce cordial relations between the two counties for many more years to come. He also announced the opening of “SIYAM NIVASA”, a Centre to facilitate, foster, and promote, both Sri Lankan and Thai cultural and social activities.
The incumbent Council of Management was unanimously elected for the year 2023.The elected office-bearers are: Patron: Poj Harnpol, Ambassador of Thailand, President: Nirmalie Gunatillake, Secretary: G.M.A. de Silva, Treasurer: Deshabandu K.
