Sri Lanka Schools’ Novices Swimming and Diving Meet starts today
The long-awaited Sri Lanka Schools’ Novices Swimming and Diving Meet will commence this weekend at the Sugathadasa Indoor Swimming Pool, offering aspiring swimmers an opportunity to showcase their talents on a national platform after almost two years.
Organized by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Sports Association, the meet will be sponsored by Nestlé MILO in line with its ambition of supporting grass-root sports in the country.
Drawing applications from over 5,000 swimmers from schools across the island, the meet will comprise of events under the age groups of 10, 12, 14, 16,18 and 20 on the following dates.
Swimming: Girls-August 13 and 14, Boys- August 19 to 21/
Diving: Boys and Girls on August 20
The top eight of under 10 and 12 events, selected based on qualifying time, and the three winners of under 14,16, 18 and 20 events will get the opportunity to compete in the 46th Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming Championship 2022 planned to be held later this year. The Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming Championship would also be sponsored by Nestlé MILO.
