Avishaka and Vandersay

Sri Lanka’s cricket selectors have recalled top order batsman Avishka Fernando and leg-spinner Jeffrey Vandersay for the three match T20 series in Bangladesh.  Vandersay comes in as captain and leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga is suspended for the first two games due to a Code of Conduct violation in the Afghanistan series.

Avishka Fernando replaces Pathum Nissanka, who  has been ruled out of the series with a hamstring injury.  Avishka last featured in a T20 International in January 2023 while Vandersay hasn’t played the  shortest form of the game in more than two years.

SLC also confirmed yesterday that Charith Asalanka will lead the side in the first two games in the absence of Hasaranga.

The team leaves to Dhaka today.
