The Sri Lanka team consisting of Aruna Dharshana, Tharushi Karunaratne, Kalinga Kumarage and women’s 400 metres individual gold medal winner Nadeesha Ramanayake clinched the silver medal of the 4×400 metres mixed relay at the Asian Championships in Thailand a little while ago.

The quartet clocked 3:15.41 seconds to establish a new Sri Lanka record.

Ratnayake Central prodigy Karunaratne ran the second lap of the race just an hour after competing in the women’s 800 metres heats. She qualified for the final after finishing first in her race.

Karunaratne ran a vital second lap to give third lapper Kalinga Kumarage the baton in the second place.

Nadeesha competed head to head with Indian and Japanese sprinters in the final lap and finished in the second place behind India.
