Sri Lanka buys 280 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen from India
Two ships carrying 140 tons arriving in Colombo today and tomorrow

NEW DELHI, August 21: Sri Lanka has bought 280 tons of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) from India to administer to needy people suffering from the deadly coronavirus lung disease, The Sunday Island understands from top diplomatic sources in India and Sri Lanka.
Two naval ships carrying a total of 140 tons of LMO have already set sail from the Chennai and Visakhapatnam (Vizag) ports in South India.
SLNS Shakthi, carrying 40 tons of the precious cargo from Chennai, will arrive in Colombo on Sunday.
INS Shakti, carrying 100 tons of LMO from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, will arrive in Colombo on Monday.
A third vessel will ferry 100 tons from Haldia in West Bengal, while a fourth ship will bring 40 tons from Chennai later this week.
Sri Lanka has commercially purchased the oxygen from India.
