Sri Lanka opted to bowl first after winning the toss in the first T-20 International against India in Bombay yesterday.

India handed debuts to Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi in a revamped side that is missing Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah.

There’s a lot of excitement for Sri Lanka as left-arm quick Dilshan Madushanka is returning to the side having been forced to return home from Australia during the Men’s T-20 World Cup due to injury.

Top-order batsman Avishka Fernando, who missed the entire 2022 couldn’t find a place in the side as Sri Lanka opted to stick to Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, who have been a good opening combination.

The selection of Chamika Karunaratne raised a few eyebrows as his conduct in Australia had been questioned by Chairman of Selectors Pramodaya Wickremesinghe.

Sri Lanka:

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis(Wicketkeeper), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka(Captain), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha and Dilshan Madushanka.

India:

Ishan Kishan(Wicketkeeper), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya(Captain), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal.
