Sri Lanka appoints Honorary Consul in St. Petersburg
Ambassador Prof. M. D. Lamawansa handed over the Commission of Appointment issued by Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena along with Exequatur received from the Russian Federation, to the newly appointed Honorary Consul Vagram Zakharyan in St. Petersburg and the North-West consular district at an event held at the Embassy in Moscow.
Addressing the gathering, the Ambassador expressed hope that his appointment will enhance the Embassy’s efforts to promote Sri Lanka’s economic diplomacy initiatives in St. Petersburg and in assisting Sri Lankans living in the region of North West of Russia.
He appreciated Vagram Zakharyan for his tremendous support rendered during the visits of high-level Sri Lankan delegations to St. Petersburg.
Following the official ceremony in Moscow, Ambassador Lamawansa and Mohamed Anas visited the Hon. Consul office in St. Petersburg and introduced Zakharyan to the representatives of Sri Lankan community residing in St. Petersburg.
