Sri Lanka and China expect more trade, investments after PM, Yang Jiechi meet

Sri Lanka is expecting more Chinese firms to invest in export sectors Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had said at Friday’s meeting with visiting Community Party Politburo member Yang Jiechi who had also pledged to buy more goods from the island.

This is the highest level visit of a Chinese official to South Asia since the outbreak of Coronavirus.

Yang Jiechi had congratulated PM Rajapaksa on his election victory.

A all time the Chinese government was encouraging their companies to invest in Sri Lanka, a statement from Prime Minister Rajapaksa’s office said.

China is already investing Colombo Port City and purchase of trade goods from Sri Lanka has also been increased Yang had said.

The two countries were working together in the Coronavirus crisis. He had congratulated Sri Lanka on containing the virus.
