Spotlight on fashion…

I would classify Maneka Liyanage as an all-rounder…extremely talented in whatever she decides to do where her career is concerned.

Maneka was featured in our Glam Scene and also in the Chit-Chat column, recently, and today she takes the spotlight as a photographic model.

Her profession is the IT scene and, as an IT executive, her work involves designing logos, social media advertisements, etc.

Modelling is also one of her goals and she is gradually coming into the spotlight as a photographic model, but her dream, she says, is to be a catwalk model.

As a photographic model, Maneka has been featured modelling for an online fashion house, Apel Mo, and she is now doing it for Holly Design Private Limited.

Says Maneka: “My favourite newspaper is The Island, especially the Thursday Island, and the designs seen here, courtesy of Holly Design Private Limited, are very specially for the readers of the Thursday Island.

“Where this photo shoot is concerned, I did my own makeup, while Rehan Fernando did the needful as photographer, and I hope you like what you see.”

Maneka is also keen to pursue a career as a singer and she certainly has a good singing voice.

She did a perfect rendition of the Ed Sheeran hit ‘Perfect,’ as well as Engelbert Humperdinck’s ‘Quando Quando Quando.’

However, Maneka says her singing has to be put on hold for the moment until she can find the time for practices, rehearsals, etc.

“Right now, my work load is heavy and I need to balance my schedule so that I could do some singing, as well.

“While at home, and whenever I have some free time, I’m always singing away.”
