Special security at churches on Easter Sunday

The police are implementing special security arrangements on Easter Sunday (April 9) April, SSP Nihal Thalduwa, Police media spokesman, told the media on Friday.He said that policemen will be deployed in churches that have mass and other religious activities on Sunday.

“The amount of security allocated for each church depends on the security assessment,” he said,

SSP Thalduwa said that if there is a shortage of policemen in an area, police chiefs can call in the STF and army personnel.

He said that ever since the Easter Sunday attacks on April 21, 2019, police have paid special attention on ensuring safety at religious places during important events.
