Southern Open All Island Badminton Championships from March 14

The Premasiri Halabage Memorial Southern Open All Island Badminton Championships 2022, organized by the Southern Province Badminton Association (SPBA) under the auspices of Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), will be held over six days from March 14.

The competitions will take place at the Dharmasoka College Indoor Stadium, Ambalangoda and Dadella Indoor Stadium in Galle.

The organisers have received nearly 930 entries for the event which will see over 870 shuttlers in action under five age groups between 13-19 as well as senior categories between age groups of 30 and 65. According to organisers, most entries have been received for age categories under 15 years.

Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, SLB and SPBA have announced that only the competitors will be allowed inside the competition venues as a precautionary measure.

However, fans will be able to enjoy the action live on SLB’s official social media pages on Facebook, Youtube, and the governing body’s official website – srilankabadminton.lk

Final day’s action and the presentation ceremony will be broadcast live on PeoTV channel 20 in addition to SLB’s social media accounts the badminton governing body said in a statement yesterday.
