Some roads closed on account of Independence Day so take alternative routes

Some roads in Colombo will be closed and vehicular traffic will be limited in a number of areas in the city on account of the 75th Independence Day celebrations on 04 February, the police said.

However, steps have been taken to ensure that those who live in these areas and those who are travelling for work in these areas will not be inconvenienced by this special traffic plan, the police said.Other motorists using these roads have been advised to use alternative routes.

Galle Road from Baladaksha Mawatha Junction to Galle Face Roundabout will be closed from 2.00 p.m. on 03 February until the end of the Independence Day celebration. Meanwhile Marine Drive from Bambalapitiya Railway Station to Kollupitiya Junction will be closed from 6.00 p.m. on 03 February to 10.00 a.m. on 04 February.

Meanwhile, Galle Face Centre Road, from Galle Face Roundabout to NSA Roundabout and Chaithya Road area, entrance to Station Road in Kollupitiya and Galle Face Roundabout from Kollupitiya Junction, entrance to Galle Road from St. Michael Roundabout, entrance to Galle Road from Rotunda Roundabout, entrance to NSA Roundabout from Ceramic Junction, entrance to Bank of Ceylon Mawatha from York Street, entrance to Chatham Street from York Street, entrance to Mudalige Mawatha from York Street, entrance to Sir Baron Jayathilake Mawatha from York Street, entrance to YMBA Roundabout from Khan Clock Tower Roundabout, entrance to CTO Junction and Olcott Mawatha from CENOR Junction, entrance to Ceramic Junction, Lotus Road from CTO Junction, entrance to D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha from Gamini Roundabout, entrance to Regal Junction from Slave Island Police Roundabout, entrance to Galle Face Green and Baladaksha Mawatha from Sir Mohomad Macan Markar Mawatha, entrance to Kollupitiya from Bambalapitiya Junction on the Galle Road, entrance to Colombo from the Marine Drive through Bambalapitiya Station Road, entrance to Liberty Roundabout from Flower Road Junction through Ananda Kumaraswamy Road, entrance to R.A.
