Some politicians ‘homebound’ due to fuel shortage

A number of senior politicians including Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena have opted for work from home due to the prevailing fuel shortage.

Speaker Abeywardane yesterday told The Island that he was working from home to save fuel.

SJB MP Tissa Attanayake also said that he had put political activities on hold due to the fuel shortage.

However, JVP Propaganda Secretary, MP Vijitha Herath said that fuel crisis had not prevented his party from engaging in politics. The people needed the assistance of politicians and political parties more than ever, Herath said.
