Sohan to usher in 2024…Down Under
Obviously, there is something special, where Sohan is concerned, for music fans, abroad, to keep patronizing his shows.
The Arts Foundation of Northwest, in Seattle, in the States, had this to say about our legendary performer, announcing his appearance, with Sarith Surith and The News, at their Dinner Dance, on 2nd June, in Seattle, in the USA…quoting what I had to say about him in my article in The Island of 28th February, 2023…
It’s no secret that this legendary singer/entertainer has that special niche, the ability to keep the old and the young thoroughly entertained, with enjoyment, and amusement. The moment he gets on stage there is action and the plus factor is that he caters to the needs of his audience. Social media was full of bouquets for Sohan’s performance, with one fan saying, “Sohan rocks.”
The announcement goes on to say:
Sarith Surith and The News: Six dates in Canada and the USA, with Sohan Weerasinghe as guest artiste
“It’s not always that Sri Lankan entertainers hit the big time, overseas, nor can they entertain multiple age groups, but Sohan Weerasinghe seems to be an exception! In 2022 alone, he completed several overseas tours, including England and Australia.”
And this year, he is already billed to do several overseas gigs, ending 2023 by ushering in 2024, in Melbourne, Australia.
The Melbourne scene, I’m told, will be an unusual ‘explosion’ as showman Bertie Ekenaike will be having Sohan, Corrine and Clifford Richards together, on one stage, to usher in the New Year, 2024…in Melbourne Australia.
The band Ebony, from Melbourne, will also be in attendance.
Sohan says he is eagerly looking forward to this ‘explosion,’ adding that “with Bertie Ekenaike, at the helm, I can guarantee that this scene will be one big memorable 31st night.”
There is also a possibility of Sohan, Corrine and Clifford doing a few more gigs, Down Under, before their departure for home.
In addition to his tour of Canada and the USA, with Sarith Surith and The News, in June, Sohan will also be seen in action at St. Thomas’ College OBA Canada Dinner Dance, on 16th September, in Canada, and on 14th October at the Trinity College Kandy Old Boys’ Association UK Dinner Dance, in London.
Sohan also indicated that his newly revamped Sonexco recording studio is now a state-of-the art studio.
And, then added: “It’s my granddaughter, Sienna, who now makes my life worth living, and gives me a purpose. She is the apple of my eye.”
