SLT-MOBITEL supports TRCSL’s drive to bridge the digital divide

Extending its support towards bridging the digital divide, SLT-MOBITEL facilitated the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka’s (TRCSL) ‘Gamata Sanniwedanaya’ Project by commissioning the first 4G tower in Panana, Weligepola on July 5, 2021.

Oshada Senanayake, Director General – TRCSL, Lalith Seneviratne, Group CEO – SLT-MOBITEL, Chandika Vitharana, Acting CEO – Mobitel (Pvt.) Ltd., members of the senior management from SLT-MOBITEL and government officials and other dignitaries graced the occasion.

A line up of other locations are being developed under the same initiative as SLT-MOBITEL continue with the planning efforts for the other districts under the same scheme with TRCSL leadership. Facilitating the infrastructure needs of both private and public sectors, SLT-MOBITEL’s partnership with TRCSL’s will bring to life the core vision of providing 100 percent 4G LTE connectivity to the nation by facilitating infrastructure requirements to address the digital connectivity challenges faced by rural communities.
