SLT-MOBITEL extends steadfast support to TRCSL’s Gamata Sanniwedanaya Project
SLT-MOBITEL, the National ICT, Telecommunications and Mobile Services Provider has facilitated the installation of the first rural 4G tower in Kurunegala District under the ‘Gamata Sanniwedanaya’ project which aims to empower Sri Lanka with 100% 4G LTE connectivity.
Located in the Hiruwalpola, Kurunegala, this tower was inaugurated as part of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka’s (TRCSL) ‘Gamata Sanniwedanaya’ project, aimed at ensuring all rural communities are equipped with the necessary connectivity infrastructure. SLT-MOBITEL is committed to drive adoption of broadband-based consumer and enterprise services by further expanding the broadband footprint, achieved by facilitating the TRCSL’s ‘Gamata Sanniwedanaya’ project which aims to provide superior connectivity to all Sri Lankans.
As the National ICT Solutions Provider, SLT-MOBITEL has taken innovative steps towards digital transformation and leading the nation to adopt new age technologies such as NB-IOT, 5G, AI, and Big Data among others as it works towards bridging the digital divide.

As part of its central role in the digital transformation of Sri Lanka, to-date SLT-MOBITEL has fuelled investments of over USD 800 million in shaping Sri Lanka’s ICT landscape and has utilised LKR 1.5Bn in 5G related technologies which includes 5G testing, 5G trialling and public demonstrations.
